The Location

Dunster Beach is within easy walking distance of the beautiful medieval village of Dunster on the edge of Exmoor in England's beautiful West Country. The town of Minehead is only three miles away.

The Site 

The site of 44 acres is recognised as a nature reserve of great importance. There are a further 440 acres of private beach (down to the low water mark). The beach is sand and pebbles with natural sea-water pools and bathing.

It is very peaceful - traffic cannot be heard on the site, which has not been commercialised.

 

Facilities

The site is self contained with its own well stocked Shop, Putting Green (18 holes). Tennis Court, Sea fishing, Bicycle hire and Refreshment Kiosk.

Situation

Timber Lodge is a timber built detached chalet cabin which enjoys an idyllic position overlooking the sea. The tide brings the water to within fifty metres. On the opposite landward side, it is a mere forty paces to the edge of the Hawn Lake (formerly Dunster Harbour), behind which are stunning views of the Brendon Hills, including Dunster Castle and Crown farms and forests. To the West the beach adjoins Minehead Golf Course, which is open to visitors, whilst to the East the site is bounded by the River Avill with views of the sweeping curve of Blue Anchor Bay.

This Luxury Chalet

The chalet has been renovated to a very high standard, with fitted kitchen, lounge area (colour TV and Video) upstairs mezzanine sleeping deck and a toilet/ shower room. It is very well heated, extremely comfortable being fully furnished (except for linen - see accommodation)

The Accommodation

The luxury chalet is ideal for two people, but can take up to four quite easily. There are two single beds on the upper mezzanine sleeping deck and a double pull-down bed downstairs. (A blow up bed is available.)

Guests provide their own linen. Duvets are on all beds, so please bring duvet covers and sheets, together with pillowcases, towels and tea towels. In Timber Lodge a very strict policy of no smoking applies. We do not accept pets.

Places to visit

Dunster beach provides an ideal centre for touring the Exmoor National Park and the beautiful countryside and coast of West Somerset and North Devon, including the Quantock and Brendon Hills and Lorna Doone Country. Places of interest which are 'a must' include Dunster Village, Minehead, Selworthy Green and Tea rooms, Luccombe, Allerford, Bossington, Porlock and Porlock Weir, Horner Valley and Mill, Tarr Steps and Lynton and Lynmouth.

Railway enthusiasts will be interested in the West Somerset Railway which has a station at Dunster and features steam trains which pass only a field or two from the chalet. Walkers will find the chalet at Dunster beach an ideal location.

Directions 

Dunster beach is reached from the .A39 between Willerton and Minehead After passing through the village of Carhampton continue to the traffic lights at Dunster ignoring the left hand turn to Dunster Village and Dunster Castle, proceed a few hundred yards towards Minehead and a signpost for Dunster Beach will be seen on the right hand side

Safety

At Dunster Beach Chalets we make a special request that in the interest of safety, particularly of small children and the elderly, that drivers should observe the speed limit of 10mph whilst driving on the site.

Charges

The chalet is  available  from  March to October (inclusive).

Bookings  are normally weekly and run from Saturday to Saturday

NB. A surcharge of £30 is made for weeks that include a Bank Holiday .

Bookings for shorter periods are accepted in the low season:

NB. A minimum of three nights is usually required.

A non-returnable deposit of £60 is required for all bookings, the balance is payable one calendar month before arrival.

Cheques should be made payable to: "CJ & ER Beasley".

Electricity is charged at normal domestic rate by meter which accepts £1 coins
